157 appears Benjamin Wells party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the said slaves within mentioned at the times as within mentioned to be manumitted and discharged from all service to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Chd Acknowledged before Robert Franklin Ex.d 3¼ Recorded the 5th day of may 1820 This Indenture Witnesseth That I Anne Kelly of anne arundel County in the State of maryland for and in the sum of one Cent to me in hand paid at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have released from slavery manumitted and set free and by these presents do release from slavery manumit and set free the several following slaves on the terms as hereafter mentioned my negro woman Named Sarah to be free at my death my negro man named Jacob aged 32 years to be free after serving two years my negro Girl named Rebecca aged sixteen years to serve untill she arrives to the age of thirty one years my negro boy named Perry aged Eleven years to serve untill he arrives to the age of thirty five years, Braziel aged Eight years to serve until she arrives at the age of thirty one years Serena aged six years to serve untill she arrives at the age of thirty one years Henrietta aged two years to serve untill she arrives to the age of thirty one years they being (under) |
