146 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Henry Basford of ann arundel County and State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of Ten dollars to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery manumit & set free on the Conditions herein after mentioned the following negroes to wit my negro woman Henny Johnson aged Eighteen years to be free on the fourteenth day of December one thousand Eight hundred & thirty seven and her child mary aged four months to be free on the fourteenth day of December one thousand Eight hundred and forty seven and the issue of the said negroes Henny and mary to be free on the following times to wit: the males to be free when they arrive at twenty five years of age and the females at twenty one years of age and their issue on the same Conditions for ever and the said negroes I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude to me my Executors administrators or assigns forever on the terms above mentioned In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this twelvth day of February one thousand Eight hundred & twenty Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Henry Basford (seal) Gideon White, Richard Tydings Gideon White J.r On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Rec.d on the day and date above mention (ten) |
