147 ten dollars it being the full consideration money within mentioned Henry Basford Witness Gideon White Ann Arundel County to wit: On this nineteenth day of February Eighteen hundred & twenty appears Henry Basford party to the within instrument of writing before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the County aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the negroes within named to be manumitted according to the terms within mentioned and the act of assembly in such cases made & provided Acknowledged before Chd Benj.a Tho.s Pindle Ex.d 4 Recorded the 19.th day of February 1820 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I William Brewer of the City of annapolis in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of five dollars Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free from and after the end and expiration of Eleven years from the date of these presents and by these presents do release from slavery liberate manumit and set free from and after the end and expiration of Eleven years Commencing from the date of these presents my negro man named Vachel calling himself Vachel Richardson being of the age of twenty two years and able to work and gain a livelyhood and him the said negro man named Vachel calling himself Vachel Richardson I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my (Executor) |
