14 At the foot of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: State of maryland anne arundel County to wit On this 27th day of December 1816 Personally appears Absalom Ridgely party to the within instrument of writing before us the subscribers Justices of the peace of the State of maryland for the County aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro therein named with her increase to be manumitted and discharged from all service to him or to any claiming under him from and after the periods within limitted according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such cases made and provided Acknowledged before Witness James Hunter R.d K Watts Frederick Harwood Nicholas Ridgely paid Ex.d d.d 3¾ Recorded the 27th day of December 1816 Know all men by these presents that I Jemima Duvall relict of Zachariah Duvall late of Anne Arundel County deceased for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have manumitted liberated and set free from slavery and by these presents do manumit liberate and set free from slavery in manner and form as is hereinafter set forth a certain negro woman slave named Jenny now in her twenty third year of age and her son Isaac and her daughter Margaret which said Isaac is now two years and five months old and the said Margaret (one) |
