127 of our Lord 1819 Sealed & delivered in presence of us Richard P Snowden Joseph R Hopkins (seal) Rezin H Snowden At the foot of the aforegoing deed was thus written tow it: anne arundel County ss.t Be it remembered That on the twenty fifth day of September Anno Domini 1819 before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the said County came the above named Joseph R Hopkins and acknowledged the above manumission to be his act and deed and desired the same might be recorded as such Witness my hand and seal ch.d Gerrard H Snowden (seal) 2¼ Recorded the 28th day of September 1819 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Nicholas J Watkins of the City of annapolis and State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in the further sum of one dollar Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro boy named James aged about Ten years from and after the fourteenth day of July one thousand Eight hundred and forty two which said negro boy James being able to gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and the said negro boy James I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators from and after the time herein before mentioned. In Witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and fix my seal this sixth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand (Eight) |
