119 further consideration of the sum five dollars Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate & manumit my negro woman named Lydia being about the age of thirty years and able to work & gain a sufficient livelyhood & maintenance and her the said negro woman named Lydia I do hereby declare to be henceforth free manumitted & discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my heirs Executors or administrators for ever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 10th day of July 1819 Signed Sealed and delivered his in presence of Leonard X Foreman (seal) Ch.s Waters Susan Waters on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Received on the day of the above date within mentioned the sum of five dollars current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned his Witness Ch.s Waters Leonard X Foreman mark Anne Arundel County to wit: on this tenth day of July 1819 before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said County personally appears Leonard Foreman and acknowled the within instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such case made and provided Ex.d Acknowledged before Ch.s Waters paid 2¾ Recorded the 13th day of July 1819 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Hester Crandell of anne arundel County (in) |
