112. my hand and seal this 11th day of may in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and nineteen Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Abraham Wason Ann Jenifer (seal) R Welch of Ben On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Maryland anne arundel County to wit: On this 14th day of may Eighteen hundred and nineteen personally appears Ann Jenifer before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County and State aforesaid and acknowledges the within deed or instrument of writing to be her act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such case made and provided paid Acknowledged before R Welch of Ben Ex.d d.d 2½ Recorded the 14th day of may 1819 Know all men by these presents that I Anne Jenifer of anne arundel County State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations and in consideration of the sum of five dollars do hereby manumit liberate and release from slavery my negro Girl named Charity being of the age of twenty one years from and after the Expiration of the term for which I sold her to a certain Charles Hogg of the City of Baltimore which said term will expire on the tenth day of may Eighteen hundred and twenty three and I do hereby declare the said negro woman after the expiration of the said term to be free clear (and) |
