110 aforesaid David Weems and acknowledges the foregoing instrument of writing to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negroes therein mentioned to be manumitted over to be free at the expiration of the terms therein mentioned and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such case made and provided Ex.d Acknowledged before R Welch of Ben paid 3½ Recorded the 22d day of april 1819 Know all persons before whose presence these may come that I Thomas Francis of anne arundel County and State of maryland for divers good causes me thereunto moving do by these presents liberate manumit and set free from slavery my Son Samuel Francis whom I heretofore purchased of major Edward Dorsey Executor of the late Ruth Dorsey of County aforesaid as soon as he the said Samuel Francis arrives to the age of twenty five years and in order that the time may be known when the said Samuel is twenty five years of age I here insert that my son Samuel Francis will be twenty five years of age in the month of June in the year Eighteen hundred and twenty Eight and whereas my said son Samuel is now in possession of a certain William Hinks tobarn the Blacksmiths business to serve the said Hinks untill he the said Samuel arrives to the age aforesaid at which time the said Samuel Francis is hereby declared to be free (from) |
