109 money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro boy named Benjamin of the age of six years to be free on the twenty fifth day of December one thousand Eight hundred and thirty Eight also my negro Girl named Harriet of the age of fourteen years to be free the twenty fifth day of December Eighteen hundred and thirty one (her children if any) the makes to be free at the age of thirty five and the females to be free at the age of twenty Eight years the said above mentioned negroes are of sound mind and body and Capable by labour to procure sufficient food and raiment the said Negro Boy Benjamin and negro Girl Harriet I do hereby declare to be free at the expiration of the term within mentioned manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for ever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty second day of april in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and nineteen Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Daniel Weems (seal) R Welch of Ben John Welch On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Anne Arundel County sc. On this twenty second day of april one thousand Eight hundred and nineteen personally appears before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County (aforesaid) |
