106 presence of Jno A Grammer Stephen Boone on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: State of maryland anne arundel County sc.t I hereby Certify that on this ninth day of april 1819 mary merriken Executrix of Richard merriken late of said County deceased personally appeared before me the undersigned one of the Justices of the peace in and for the County aforesaid and acknowledged the within instrument of writing or deed of manumission to be her proper act and deed according to the tenor effect and true meaning of the same and according to the acts of assembly in such cases made and provided paid Taken before Horatio Ridout Ex.d d.d 3¾ Recorded the 8th day of april 1819 State of maryland anne arundel County to wit Know all men by these presents that I James Moss Senior of said County and State for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving and also for and in consideration of the sum of one Cent Current money of the united States to me in hand paid by Nace Hanson (the father of the herein after named James Hanson) the receipt of which I do hereby fully and freely acknowledge have liberated manumitted and for ever set free and by these presents do liberate manumit and for ever set free a certain negro boy slave (my property) named James Hanson the son of Nace Hanson and Sarah his wife now aged about Eleven years. And I do hereby for myself my heirs Executors administrators and assigns warrant and for ever defend the freedom and exemption from Servitude of said James Hanson against myself my heirs and assigns and all persons claiming or who may claim him the said James Hanson by from or under me or them for ever (In) |
