105 Know all men by these presents that whereas Richard Merriken (late of anne arundel County in the State of maryland deceased) did in his life time by parol or word of mouth set free and discharge from servitude a certain negro man slave named Ignatius or Nace Hanson aged about forty four years and which said Ignatius or Nace Hanson never afterwards was considered as the property of said Richard merriken nor was he appraised or mentioned as part of of said Richard merrikens personal Estate Now therefore for and in consideration of the premises aforesaid and also for and in consideration of the full and just sum of one Dollar Current money of the United States to me in hand paid by the said Ignatius or Nace Hanson (at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge) I the Executrix of the testament and last will of the aforesaid Richard merriken have liberated manumitted set free and discharged from servitude and by these presents do liberate manumit set free and discharge from servitude for ever the aforesaid Ignatius or Nace Hanson and do by these presents warrant and for ever defend freedom unto the said Ignatius or Nace Hanson against myself and all all other persons claiming or who may claim him from through by or under the aforesaid Richard Merriken his heirs or assigns In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal as Executrix of the aforesaid Richard merriken on this seventh day of april anno Domini one thousand Eight hundred and nineteen Mary Merriken (seal) Signed Sealed and delivered in (pre= |
