101. personally appears John mercer party to the within instrument before me one of the Justices in and for the County of ann arundel aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned that the said negro man abraham is the property of the said William D McKim for that term within specified and that the said negro is from and after the expiration of the said term manumitted and forever discharged from service to him or to my claiming under him according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Ch.d John Johns d.d Ex.d 3¼ Recorded the 2d day of February 1819 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Joshua Toogood of anne arundel County and State of maryland for divers food causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also the further consideration of Ten dollars to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free my negro man named Ellick aged about nineteen years and my negro man Josh aged twenty five years and my negro Girl Paul aged about twenty years and my negro Girl Rachel aged about sixteen years and my negro Girl named Priss aged about ten years and my negro woman Girl named Sue aged about twenty seven years and my negro Girl Cate aged about twenty three years all of which negros are able to work and gain a sufficient livelyhood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Ellick and Josh Paul Rachel Priss and Old Priss Sue and Cate (I) |
