9 Ex.d d d State of Maryland S S.t To all whom these presents shall come Greeting: I Thomas W. H. Lewis of anne arundel county & State of maryland aforesaid for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving do declare free manumit and enfranchise negro Jim aged about twenty five years old to be free from the 19.th day of august one thousand eight hundred and seventeen hereby acknowledge the said negro Jim discharged from all manner of claim of service and right of property whatever from me my heirs executors administrators or assigns from the said nineteenth day of august one thousand eight hundred and seventeen Witness my hand and seal this nineteenth day of august one thousand eight hundred and seven Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of Thomas W. H. Lewis (seal) Joseph Sands on the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit On the nineteenth day of august eighteen hundred and seven personally appeared before me the subscribers one of the Justices of the peace for ann arundel county aforesaid Thomas W. H. Lewis party to the above instrument of writing and did acknowledge the same to be his act and deed and the negro Jim therein named to be free according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before Joseph Sands Recorded 19 aug.t 1807 To all whom these presents shall come Greeting. I Thomas Norman of anne arundel county State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations thereunto moving do hereby discharge free manumit and enfranchise the following negro woman |
