8 ^his^ act and deed and the signature and seal thereto annexed to be respectively his 3 Recorded 11.th aug.t 1807 acknowledged before John Cord Ex.d d d Know all men by these presents that I Horatio Ridout of Anne arundel county in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have manumitted ^liberated^ and set free and by these presents do for myself my heirs executors and administrators manumit ^liberate^ and set free a certain negro man slave named Sam commonly called Samuel Richardson aged forty years able bodied and healthy and in all respects able to provide a living for himself: In Testimony whereof I have unto these presents set my hand and affixed my seal on this seventh day of august anno domini one thousand eight hundred and seven signed sealed & delivered in the presence of Horatio Ridout (seal) Richard Merriken on the back of the Samuel Ridout aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit anne arundel county to wit on this 7.th day of august in the year of our Lord 1807 personally came before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for the county aforesaid the within named Horatio Ridout and acknowledged the within Instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the form effect and true meaning of the same and the act of assembly in such case made and provided taken before Recorded 19 aug.t 1807 Richard Merriken |
