(83) in the within deed of manumission named residing in the said county and acknowledged the said deed of manumission to be his act and deed for the purposes in the said deed mentioned Gideon White Recorded the second day of Jany 1810 To all whom it may concern be it known that I the subscriber Joseph Harwood of Anne Arundel county in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five years servitude rendered me by a certain free negro man called Daniel have released from slavery liberated and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate and set free my negro woman named Sophia and her two children named Sarah and Rachel (the wife and children of the said Daniel) and them do declare to be henceforth free and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my heirs executors and administrators forever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this fourth day of January eighteen hundred and ten signed sealed & delivered in the presence Jos Harwood (seal) of Joseph Watkins Saml C Watkins on the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit |
