County appears John Merriken and acknowledges the foregoing writing to be
his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning
thereof and the act of assembly in such case made and provided
Recorded 2.d Dec.r 1809            acknowledged before Rich.d Merriken


To whom it may concern be it known that I Jemima Duvall
of Anne arundel county in the State of Maryland for divers good causes
and considerations me thereunto moving do release from slavery liberate
manumit and set free after the last day of January eighteen hundred
and ten  And by these presents do (at the time above specifyed) release
from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Daniel
being about forty years old and able to work and gain a sufficient
livehood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Daniel
I do declare to be after the last day of January eighteen hundred
and ten manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude
or service to me my executors administrators or any other person
or persons claiming under me,   In witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 4.th day
of December in the year of our Lord 1809
signed & sealed
in the presents of
    Henry Duvall            Jemima Duvall   (seal)
    Ephraim Duvall

on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus endorsed to wit
A A County to wit  on this fourth day of December 1809 personally
appears Jemima Duvall party to the within Instrument of writing before
me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for the
said county and acknowledges the same to be her act and
deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man therein
named to be at the time specifyed manumited and discharged
from all service to her or to any claiming under her and
to be free and manumited according to the act
of assembly in such cases made and provided
    acknowledged before
