80 Ann arundel county county Nov.r 7 1809 then came Nicholas Swormstedt before me one of the Justices of the peace for the county aforesaid and acknowledged the above to be his act and deed for the true purpose and meaning thereof 1¾ Recorded 7 Nov.r 1809 Jn.o Brice Know all men by these presents that I John Merriken of anne arundel county and state of Maryland for the consideration of the sum of twenty five pounds current money to me in hand paid by negro Adam of the county and state aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained sold and delivered and by these presents do grant bargain sell and deliver to the said negro Adam his time of service from the date hereof and will warrant and defend the same to the said negro Adam against me my executors and administrators and against every other person or persons whomsoever In witness whereof I have hereunto set my name and affixed my seal this first day of December 1809 in presence of her Sarah + Adams mark John Merriken (seal) Richard Merriken on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus endorsed to wit Dec.r 1.st 1809.
