73 thousand eight hundred and nine witness Samuel Thomas (Seal) T E Thomas A Davalwurt on the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit Baltimore County to wit on this seventh June 1809 before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of said county appeared Samuel Thomas and acknowledged the above manumission be his act and Deed Tho W Griffith Recorded 16 June 1809 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I John Cord of Ann Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good Causes & Considerations me thereunto moving have released from Slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release manumit and set free my Negro Man Named Sam commonly Called Samuel Squirel being thirty one years of Age a sound healthy able bodied man well able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance And him the said Negro Man Sam I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of Servitude or Service to me my heirs Executors or administrators for ever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal this ninth day of July eighteen hundred and nine John Cord (Seal) Witness John R Frost Rachel Frost On |
