68 to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintainance and him the said negroe man named Harry I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever. Watkins John Hall on the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of nine pounds seven shillings and six pence current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Eleanor W Cowman (seal) Ann arundel county to wit on this 28.th day of march personally appears Eleanor Washington Cowman party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the said county and acknowledges the same to be her act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to her or to any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act of |
