56 in further consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery manumitted and set free and by these presents do release from slavery manumit and set free a mulatto woman slave belonging to me by the name of Harriett commonly called Harriett Ennis being of the age of twenty one years and of a healthy constitution and sound in mind and body capable by labour to procure to herself sufficient food and raiment with other requisite necessaries of life and her the said mulatto woman slave named Harriett Ennis or by whatsoever name or names she may be called or known I do declare to be henceforth freed manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever, In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name and affix my seal this eleventh day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us James Harwood Margaret Callahan (seal) William S. Green on the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit.
