57 maryland ann arundel county Sc. on the eleventh day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine personally came margaret Callahan of the city of Annapolis before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace in and for anne arundel county aforesaid and acknowledged the foregoing instrument of writing to be her act and deed Acknowledged before Gideon White Recorded the 14 Janry 1809 Ex d d maryland anne arundel county Sc. To all persons whom it doth or may concern be it known that I Margaret Callahan of the city of Annapolis in the county aforesaid for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one dollar current money to me paid by a mulatto woman named Harriett Ennis have agreed to and by these presents do release from slavery manumit and set free from and after the first day of January which will be in the year of our lord eighteen hundred and twenty one a mulatto boy slave belonging to me by the named of Edward Ennis of the age of two years and six months son of the said mulatto woman named Harriett Ennis who was formerly a slave belonging to me but whom I have liberated and set free previously to the executing of these presents and the said mulatto boy named Edward Ennis as aforeasaid I do declare to be thence forth |
