(53 Know all men by these presents that I margaret Dorsey of anne arundel county do hereby liberate manumit and discharge from slavery my negro slave named Lucy and I do hereby declare that the term of her slavery shall cease and her freedom as aforesaid commence on the expiration of five years from the first day of January next ensuing the date hereof do witness my hand and seal this ninth day of november in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and eight signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us Henry Ridgely Margaret Dorsey (seal) Harriot Dorsey on the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit on the 9.th day of november 1808 came before me the above named margaret Dorsey and acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be her act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof taken and acknowledged before me Henry Ridgely afs.d Judge of the third judicial district Ex Know all men by these presents that I John Francis Mercer of anne arundel county for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have manumitted and set free my negro man slave named Daniel to have possess and enjoy his freedom from the date hereof forever and I do hereby absolutely and forever relinquish and release all my right title or claim to the future services of the said slave In witness whereof I have hereunto set my (hand) |
