44 under him and to be free and manumitted according to act of assembly in such cases made and provided acknowledged before OS. S. Harwood Recorded 23.d July 1808 I John Cowman of Ann Arundel county in the province of maryland do hereby set free from bondage my negro woman named Phanny aged about twenty five years and also her three children namely Mariah Henrietta and Betsy and do for myself my executors and administrators release unto the aforesaid negro woman and children as nam'd all my right and claim as to her and her children or to any estate they may acquire hereby declaring the said negro woman named Phanny and three children as named to be absolutely free without any interruption as also my negro woman named Florer when she arrives to age of eighteen which will be in the twelfth month eighteen hundred and eight and lastly my negro girl named Beck when she arrives to the age of eighteen which will be in the year eighteen hundred and nineteen and in the eleventh month they ^to^ being absolutely free when they arrive to the years aforesaid without any interruption from me or any claiming under me and a right to any estate they may acquire they to be absolutely free. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the twentieth of the seventh month eighteen hundred & eight signed sealed & delivered John Cowman (seal) in the presence of Gideon White, John M.
