37 on the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of five shillings current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Witness Jonathan N. Loughlin (seal) Jn.o Gwinn Anne arundel county ss. Be it remembered that on this 9 day of may one thousand eight hundred and eight personally appears Jonathan N. Loughlin party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of maryland for the said county of anne arundel and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the negro woman and her two children also therein mentioned and the future increase of the said negro woman Milly to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any person or persons claiming under him and the said Jonathan N Loughlin did acknowledge the negroes within mentioned to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made & provided Ex.d.d.d Acknowledged before Edward Hall Recorded 10 may 1808 To all to whom these presents shall come be it known that I Elizabeth Thompson of the city of Anapolis and state of Maryland being thereto moved by divers good causes and considerations as also in further consideration of the sum of fifty cents to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro |
