361 ninth day of July Eighteen hundred and sixteen appeared before me the one of the Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid Rachel Deale party to the above instrument of writing and acknowledged the same to be her act and deed and the signature and seal thereto affixed to be respectively hers for the purpose above mentioned Ch.d Acknowledged before Thomas Sellman 2 Recorded the 12th day of August 1816 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Walter Cross of the City of Annapolis and State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five shillings Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery my negro boy named Dick being about the age of fourteen years and able to get his living have liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do release from slavery liberate manumit and set free the said negro boy Dick from and after the fourth day of April Eighteen hundred and thirty three I do declare the said negro boy Dick to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my heirs Executors or administrators forever after the expiration of the time above mentioned.
