360 Anne Arundel County sc. Be it remembered That on this twenty seventh day of July 1816 personally appears Basil Shepherd party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the County aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negroe within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the Act of Assembly in such cases made and provided Ch.d Acknowledged before Frederick Harwood 3¾ Recorded the 6th day of August 1816 Maryland ss. To all whom these presents shall come I Rachel Deale of Anne Arundel County for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving declare free manumit liberate and enfranchise the following negro to wit Eleanor aged about Eighteen years to be free at the end of my natural life and all her increase that she may have I declare the aforesaid negro Eleanor and all her increase to be free at the time specified above from me my heirs Executors and administrators in the manner and form above mentioned As Witness my hand and seal this twenty ninth day of July Eighteen hundred and sixteen her Test The word "her" being Rachel X Deale (seal) first interlined Thomas mark Sellman her Elizabeth X Crosby mark At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit: Anne Arundel County ss. on the twenty (ninth) |
