362 At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit: Anne Arundel County sc. Be it remembered that on this thirteenth day of august Eighteen hundred and sixteen personally appears Walter Cross party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the ^said^ County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro boy within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Ch.d acknowledged before Frederick Harwood 2¾ Recorded the 14th day of august 1816 Know all men by these presents that I Nicholas Brewer of the City of annapolis have and by these presents do manumit & set free from slavery a negro woman named Alley sold to me by Henry Gaither Executor of Ann Gaither and likewise her Child called Sally In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand & seal this nineteenth day of august Eighteen hundred & sixteen Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of Nich.s Brewer (seal) Henry Green James Hunter At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit: Be it remembered that on the 19th day of august Eighteen hundred & sixteen personally appeared Nicholas Brewer before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for Anne Arundel County (and) |
