358 On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit: A A County: On the 26 day of July 1816 personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid John Boone and acknowledged the aforegoing deed of manumission to be his act & deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and agreeably to the act of assembly in such cases made & provided paid Benj.a Pindle 2 Recorded the 26th day of July 1816 This Indenture Witnesseth that I Virgil Maxcy of Tulip Hill in anne arundel County Maryland for and in consideration of thirty dollars to me in hand paid at & before the ensealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have released from slavery manumitted & set free & by these do release from slavery manumit & set free my negro Girl named Eliza being under forty five years of age of a healthy constitution sound in mind and body and capable of obtaining a support having a free father named Harry Turner. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name & affixed my seal this 7th June 1816 Attest Philip Witwright V Maxcy (seal) William Urquhart At the foot of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Anne Arundel County ss. Acknowledged before me one of the Justices of the peace for said County by the above named Virgil Maxcy as his act & deed this 7.th day of June 1816.
