357 one thousand Eight hundred and sixteen personally appears Nicholas J Watkins party to the within instrument of writing before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for anne arundel County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro woman & negro boy therein named to be free at the expiration of the terms therein mentioned manumitted and discharged from all services to him or any claiming under him and to free and manumitted according to the Act of Assembly in such cases made and provided ch.d Acknowledged before Ex.d d.d Frederick Harwood 3¼ Recorded the 19.th day of July 1816 This Indenture Witnesseth that I John Boone of Anne Arundel County in the State of maryland for & in consideration of the sum of One Cent to me in hand paid at & before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have released from slavery manumitted and set free and by these presents doth release from slavery manumit and set free my negro woman named Kass being under forty five years of age of a healthy constitution sound in mind and body & Capable by labour to procure to her sufficient food & raiment with other requisite necessaries of life In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this twenty sixth day of July Eighteen hundred & sixteen Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of John Boone (seal) Benj.a Pindle Wid.s Winchester (On) |
