356 Assembly in such cases made and provided ch.d Gerrard H. Snowden 1½ Recorded the 10.th day of July 1816 To all whom it may concern. Be it known that I Nicholas J Watkins of the City of Annapolis and the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of One Dollar Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman named mary aged twenty seven years to be free and the first day of January one thousand Eight hundred and twenty nine Also Negro Tom aged one year to be free on the first day of January one thousand Eight hundred and forty one and the said negro woman named mary and Negro boy Tom I do henceforth declare to be free at the Expiration of the terms above mentioned manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this nineteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and sixteen Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of us N J Watkins (seal) Frederick Harwood James Iglehart Jun.r On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Be it remembered that on this nineteenth day of July in the year of our Lord (one) |
