my negro woman Cassy from the date of these
presence she being now of the age of thirty four
years and able to work and gain a sufficient
livehood and maintainance and her the said
negro woman Cassy I do declare to be henceforth
free manumitted and discharged from all
manner of servitude or service to me my
executors or administrators forever.  in Testamony
whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this
21 day of May 1816

On the back of the aforegoing was thus indorsed to wit:
On this 21 day of May 1816 personally appeared
John Merriken party to the within instrument
of wrighting before me the subscriber a Justice
of the peace of the State of Maryland and the
said County and acknowledged the same to be
his act and deed for the purpose therein
mentioned and the said negro woman Cassy
within named to be henceforth manumitted
and discharged from all service to him or
claiming under him and to be free and
manumitted according to the Act of Assembly
in such cases made and provided
