I John C MacKubin of Ann Arundel County in
the State of Maryland for divers good causes and
considerations me thereunto moving as allso in
further consideration of four hundred dollars
current money to me in hand paid have
released from slavery liberated manumitted
and set free and by these presents do hereby
release from slavery liberated manumit and
set free my negro man named Ned Galloway
being of the age of thirty nine years and able to
work and gain sufficent livelihood and
maintenance and him the said negro man
named Ned Galloway I do declare to be henceforth
free manumitted and discharged from all manner
of servitude or service to me my executors or
administrators forever.  In Testimony whereof
I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my
seal this twenty first day of May in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
sixteen
Signed Sealed and delivered  John C MacKubin  (seal)
in the presence of
James Hunter

On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit
Received on the day of the date within mentioned
the sum of four hundred dollars current money
it being the full consideration money within
mentioned
James Hunter                     John C MacKubin

Ann Arundel County to wit:  On this twenty
first day of May personally appears John C
MacKubin party to the within instrument of
