On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit:
Anne Arundel County Sct  On the 7th March 1816
personally appeared before me the subscriber a
Justice of the peace in and for the County aforesaid
Nicholas J. Watkins and acknowledged the within
instrument of writing to be his act and deed
according to the true intent and meaning
thereof and the acts of Assembly in such case
made and provided
paid                              Benjamin Pindle
Ex.d d.d
2¼      Recorded the 7.th day of March 1816


Know all men by these presents that I Philip
W Thomas for and in consideration that negro
Joshua hath served the time mentioned in Jerome
Plummers bill of sale to Jeremiah T Chase and
five shillings current money to me in hand
paid have manumitted and by these presents
do manumit set free and discharge negro
Joshua from my service.  In Witness whereof
I do hereby set my hand and seal to these presents

       Ramsay Waters

On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit
Anne Arundel County Sc.t  Be it remembered
that on this twelfth day of March in the year
eighteen hundred and sixteen personally appears
Philip W. Thomas party to the above instrument
of writing before me the subscriber a States
Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid
