320 party to the above instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes above mentioned and the negro girl above named to be at the time specified as before manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of Assembly in such cases made and provided Ex.d d.d acknowledged before chd James MacKubin Jun.r 2¾ Recorded the 4.th day of October 1815 This Indenture Witnesseth that I Jubb Fowler of the City of Annapolis in the County of Anne Arundel and State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars to me in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have released from slavery manumitted and set free and by these presents do release from slavery manumit and set free the following mulatto slaves that is to say my mulatto woman named Nancy Smith being under forty five years of age to wit of the age of thirty years or thereabouts my mulatto girl named Susan Smith daughter of the said Nancy of the age of nineteen years or thereabouts and my mulatto girl |
