310 deed of manumission to be his act and deed and desired the same might be recorded as such William Hall J.r a Justice of the peace for paid the aforesaid County 2 Recorded the 24.th day of June 1815 Know all men by these presents that I Israel T Canley of the State of Kentucky attorney for Ann Sprigg of the same State for and in consideration of the sum of twenty dollars to me in hand paid by John Brown (black man) of the City of Annapolis and State of Maryland at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the recept whereof I the said Israel T Canley do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John Brown his personal liberty and all the title interest and claim of her the said Ann Sprigg to the services of the said John Brown. And I the said Israel T Canley attorny for the said Ann Sprigg for the said Ann Sprigg her heirs executors administrators the aforesaid John Brown his personal liberty to the said John Brown against me the said Israel T Canley attorney for Ann Sprigg and against her heirs and assigns forever and against all and every person and persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof I the said Israel T Canley have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this |
