309 for the purposes within mentioned and the slaves within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of Assembly in such cases made and provided Ex.d d.d acknowledged before paid Rezin Estep 2¾ Recorded the 6th day of June 1815 To all men to whom these presents shall come I Philip Hammond Hopkins of Ann Arundel County and State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have manumitted and set free and do hereby manumit set free and release from all claims of servitude my negro woman named Mary about thirty four years of age and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance. And her the said negro woman Mary I do declare to be henceforth free manumated and discharge from all manner of servitude to me my heirs executors and administrators forever. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand affixed my seal this twenty fourth day of June in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fifteen Signed Sealed and delivered Philip Hammond Hopkins (seal) in presence of J. R. Hopkins Reuben White On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit: Anne rundle County ss. St. Maryland ss. This twenty fourth day of June Anno Domini 1815 before me the subscriber personally appeared Philip Hammond Hopkins within named and acknowledged the within deed |
