31 hundred and fourteen at which time he will be twenty six years old Man Perry sold to Joseph Court on the fifth of may eighteen hundred and four to serve four years which time is now elapsed and I declare him free from the fifth day of this present month being about thirty nine years of age all of them being at the times of their discharge from me and these now in my possession able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintainance and the the said negroes Priss Kitty Ayers Dinah Sophy Anne Fanny Robert Joseph William Henry and Perry I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors administrators or assigns forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty seventh day of may in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eight Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of James N. Weems (seal) Gideon White George Wells Nicholas J. Watkins on the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit Received on the twenty seventh day of may the date within mentioned the sum of ten shillings current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Witness Gideon White James N. Weems (seal) Ann arundel county to wit on this twenty seventh day of may one thousand eight hundred and eight personally appears James N Weems party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of maryland for the said county and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negroes within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or any claiming under him and to be and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made & provided Ex.d.d.d acknowledged before 6 Gideon White Recorded 27 may 1808 |
