30 To all whom it may concern be it known that I James N. Weems of the city of Annapolis ann arundell county in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of ten shillings current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery ^liberate^ manumit and set free my negroes to wit my girl Priss (sold to John O. L. Jones for a term of years aged about twenty years to be free on the first day of January eighteen hundred and ten; girl Kitty Ayers sold to Thomas Ayers aged twenty three years on the eighteenth day of november eighteen and nine all which time she is to be free; girl Dinah sold to Capt William Weems to be free on the first day of January eighteen hundred and thirteen at which time she will be about twenty four years old and their increase during their servitude are to serve untill the females they are twenty one years old and males until they are twenty five years old and so on in like manner forever; negro woman Sophy aged twenty one years on the eighteenth day of December eighteen hundred and seven and her child Anne aged about six months in september last at which time I set them free and their increase forever; girl Fanny aged fifteen years in august next I sett free on the first day of august eighteen hundred and fourteen and her increase free forever; negro Robert aged about twenty seven years I set free on the first day of January eighteen hundred and eleven; boy Joseph William Henry now living with Seth Sweetser to be free on the twenty second day of november eighteen |
