303 On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit: Anne Arundel County to wit: On the tenth day of April in the year eighteen hundred and fifteen came John Cord before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for the County aforesaid and acknowledged the aforegoing manumission or instrument of writeing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the several negroes therein mentioned to be free and liberated from slavery at the times and periods therein mentioned to all intents and purposes and forever thereafter according to the true intent and meaning thereof d.d acknowledged before ch.d Thomas Hood 4½ Recorded the 24.th day of April 1815 To all whom it may concern Be it Known that I John Davis of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one dollar current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my woman slave named Araminta being of the age of forty years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance as also Debby daughter of the said Araminta about fifteen months old and them the said Araminta and Debby I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of |
