254 by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro boy named Henry Frost being of the age of nine years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro boy named Henry Frost I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 10.th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen Signed Sealed and delivered Jno Brice (seal) in the presence of us Henry Coulter Joseph Sands On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit: Anne Arundel County sc Be it remembered that on this 10.th day of Septem.r in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen personally appears John Brice Sen.r party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a justice of the peace for the State of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro boy within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided chd Acknowledged before Joseph Sands 3 Recorded the 2.d day of March 1814 |
