227 Know all men by these presents that we George Howard and Jeremiah B Howard of Baltimore County and Thomas Cross and Caleb Dorsey of Anne Arundel County do hereby and by these presents manumit and set free from bondage from the date hereof negroes Hannah about twenty years of age and her child Sophia about ten months old late the property of Margaret Howard deceased. And we do also hereby and by these presents manumit and set free from bondage on and after the first day of January eighteen hundred and nineteen negroe Harry commonly called Joshua about twenty three years of age late the property of the said Margaret Howard deceased In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this 13.th day of November 1813 witness Geo. Howard (seal) Nich.s Worthington of Tho.s J B Howard (seal) Nich.s Watkins J.r Thomas Cross (seal) Caleb Dorsey (seal) On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit: Anne Arundel County to wit: On this 13.th day of Nov.r 1813 then came George Howard Jeremiah B Howard Thomas Cross and Caleb Dorsey parties to the within bond of manumission and acknowledged the same to be their act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided. Acknowledged before Nich.s Worthington of Tho.s We hereby assign unto Jeremiah B Howard his heirs and assigns all our right to the within named negroe Harry commonly called Joshua until the first day of January eighteen and nineteen |
