219 liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Phillip Stewart being of the age of thirty five years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Phillip Stewart I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors administrators forever. In testimony whereof I hareunto set my hand and affixed my seal this third day of June in the year of our Lord 1813 Signed Sealed and delivered his in the presents of Robert x Wallice (seal) John Linstid mark Eben.r Thomas On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of fifty dollars it being the full consideration money within mentioned his Robert x Wallice (seal) mark Anne Arundel County to wit: On this third day of June in the year of our Lord 1813 personally appears Robert Wallice party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided.
