subscriber a justice of the peace of the State
of Maryland for the said County and acknowledged
the same to be their act and deed for the
purposes within mentioned and the negro man
within mentioned and named to be henceforth
manumitted and discharged from all services
to them or to any claiming under them and
to be free and manumitted according to the
act of assembly in such cases made and
provided
             acknowledged before

State of Maryland sc.t   To all whom it may
concern  Be it Known that I William Brewer
of the City of Annapolis in the State aforesaid
having sold to Robert Purviance of the City
of Baltimore a negro woman named Sarah
alias Sarah Brown for the term of eight
years from the twentieth day of March eighteen
hundred and thirteen for divers good causes
and considerations me thereunto moving as
also in further consideration of five shillings
current money to me in hand paid have
released from slavery after the expiration
of said term) liberated manumitted and
set free and by these presents do hereby release
from slavery liberate manumit and set free
the said negro woman named Sarah alias
