205 named Jasper Joe Tom and James I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators from and after the respective times and periods of emancipation herein before mentioned In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this seventeenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen Signed sealed & delivered in George Wells (seal) the presence of Louis Gassaway John Thomas Barker On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit: Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of five shillings current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Witness Louis Gassaway George Wells Anne Arundel County sc.t On this seventeenth day of February in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and thirteen personally appears George Wells party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro men within named to be manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted from and after the times and periods mentioned in the aforegoing instrument of writing according to the act of Assembly in such cases made and provided Acknowledged before paid Louis Gassaway 4¼ Recorded the 19.th day of February 1813 |
