186 of one hundred dollars to me in hand paid the receipt thereof I do hereby acknowledge do here liberate manumit and set free my negro woman Rebeckah wright (purchased from Nathan Lane) and do hereby declare that the said woman shall be liberated manumited set free and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my heirs executors and administrators forever from and after the seventh day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one the said woman being now under the age of forty five years and able to get her living. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 29 day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twelve Sign'd Sealed and delivered John Weems of Rich (seal) in the presence of Cha.s Drury Leonard Gary On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit: On this 29 day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twelve personally appears John Weems (of Richard) party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for Anne Arundel County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro woman within named to be |
