183 some years since sign a manumission in favour of a negro woman named Daphne to be free after my death. I now by these presents declare her to be discharged from my service altogether from this day. Given under my hand and seal this third day of June eighteen hundred and twelve Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Jno Brice Susanna Lane (seal) Samuel Peaco On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit: June 3.d 1812 Then appeared before me one of the Justices of the peace for Ann Arundel County Susanna Lane who acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be her act and deed for the uses and purposes therein mentioned paid Jno Brice 1¼ Recorded the 3.d day of June 1812 Know all men by these presents that I Samuel Ridout of the City of Annapolis do hereby manumit and discharge from slavery a certain negro man slave named Francis Neal aged about forty four. In Witness whereof I hereby set my hand and seal this fourth day of June in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twelve Witness Gideon White Samuel Ridout (seal) Jn.o Ridout On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit: Ann Arundell County ss.t On the 4.th day of June 1812 appeared Samuel Ridout before the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid |
