182 a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the said County and acknowledged the same to be her act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro girl within named to be henceforth manumitted and freed according to the last will and testament of the within named Ann Lane acknowledged before Chd Gideon White 3 Recorded the 23.d day of April 1812 Anne Arundel County. Know all men by these presents that we have manumitted and set free from the date hereof my negro slave James.
