Anne Arundel County to witt  On this 28th day
of September 1811 personally appears Thomas W.
Howard party to the within instrument of
writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the
peace of the State of Maryland for the said
County and acknowledges the same to be his
act and deed for the purposes within mentioned
and the negro man within named to be
henceforth manumitted and discharged from
all services to him or to any claiming under
him and to be free and manumitted according
to the act of Assembly in such cases made and
provided.   acknowledged before

Know all men by these presents that I Mary
Meriweather Knowing that natural Freedom
being the right of all men given by Almighty
God do bind myself my heirs executors
administrators and assigns to set free and
manumit the following negroes and there
heirs forever in the following manner to wit
to be free in Three years from this date negro
Suck aged about seventeen years to be free
in four years from this date negro Rachel
aged about twelve years to be free in eight
years from this date and all the Children
