165 from all services to her or to any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act of Assembly in such cases made and provided acknowledged before chd Benja Allein 2½ Recorded the 16.th day of September 1811 To all whom it may concern be it Known that I Thomas W. Howard of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five shillings corent money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from Slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Peter being of the age of forty five years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Peter I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 28.th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven Signed Sealed and delivered Thomas W Howard (seal) in presents of Cha.s G Dorsey Solomon Groves On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit Received on the day of the date above mentioned the sum of five shillings corent money it being the |
