164 To all whom it may concern be it Known that I Sarah Hopkins of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of ten dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Isaac his age unknown and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Isaac I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twelfth day September in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and eleven her Signed, Sealed and Sarah X Hopkins (seal) delivered in the presence of mark Benj.a Allein Mary A. Allein On the back of the aforegoing was thus endorsed to wit: Anne Arundel County to wit: On this twelfth day of September eighteen hundred and eleven personally appears Sarah Hopkins party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the County aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be her act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from |
